If there are any CSAs near you, it might be worth asking if they would be interested in having them as an add-on to their weekly boxes while the pears are in season.
It is crystal-clear (unlike most Iowa rivers and creeks and lakes) that Iowa will need to have more acres in perennial vegetation and fewer acres in rowcrops if there is ever to be a real hope for clean water here. The reluctance to accept that reality, and to act and subsidize accordingly, is mind-boggling. Local foods could and should be part of that change!

yep that's one option...of course the problem is they've already collected for their shares. I'm talking with some tho. Thanks!

Absolutely! I wish more farmers could see the benefits of perennial food crops. Farming or the environment is a false choice
I love Asian pears! If you ever brought a carload of them to the Des Moines area I would definitely buy 10.
Haha! Well, unlikely given the great response I've gotten so far, but I'll keep it in mind. We need to keep our independent journalists well fed!
Wish I could get some from you here in Panama. Good luck with marketing these.
Haha! I'm sure you're eating the best fruit you've ever had in your life. Enjoying your photos.
